EMERGING SUCCESS
More Work To Be Done
Stephen Block
President, Congregation Beth Israel
FOR TOMORROW
We are on a roll! The initial results of the Promise for Tomorrow Campaign are in, and we are well
on our way to success. At this time many of you have made generous pledges to the campaign totaling
approximately $10 million dollars. Your names are gratefully listed alphabetically in the following
pages of this Special Bulletin, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you on behalf of the entire
Congregation. Your vision and generosity will be an abiding blessing to the Congregation.
When the Promise for Tomorrow Campaign was launched, the Board of Trustees established an
ambitious goal for the Congregation. While there is more work to be done to reach that goal, the
amount pledged so far represents more than two and one-half times the amount ever pledged to any
previous capital campaign at Congregation Beth Israel. Furthermore, the number of pledges received
to this date is double that of any previous capital campaign.
We know we are capable of achieving a complete success. For that reason, the Board of Trustees
has decided to continue our solicitation efforts and to extend the time for inclusion on the Wall of
Honor. We will also continue to list your names in future Bulletins. We hope and trust that every
member will soon join those listed here in supporting this important endeavor.
With the commitments received to date, we can now begin to make specific plans to meet our most
pressing needs. Among other things, an Architectural Selection Committee chaired by Don Aron is
beginning the task of working with consultants to complete the plans for improvements to our physical
facilities.
Please take time to read through the names of your fellow congregants who have heeded the call.
And when you see them, please let them know how much their gifts are appreciated by all of us. The
commitment of our members to Beth Israel’s welfare gives us ample reason to say, “Ashreinu, ma tov
chelkeinu! Blessed are we! How good is our portion! How pleasant our lot! How beautiful our legacy! ”
As additional funds are raised in pursuit of our ultimate goals, the Congregation’s future and its
esteemed place in our community will be secured for this generation and for those to come. And when
the final chapter of this Campaign is written, Congregation Beth Israel will proudly stand tall as one
of the nation’s brightest lights in Reform Judaism.
