The majority of Baytown
employees are coming in for
individual recognition and
awards for the good safely
record they set during 1953.This is
in accordance with a safely award
program approved by the Board
of Directors last week in which
awards will be made annually if
we continue to better our record
with no fatalities. The 1953 awards
will be mechanical pencils in-
scribed with the employee’s name
and safely record to match the
pens given for the 1952 record.
LOST-TIME accidents, which
have been on the decrease over the
past four years, dropped from
1.04 disabling injuries per million
manhours worked in 1952 to .94
last year. Employees in the Re-
finery and at both Rubber Plants
ran up more than 111 million
manhours during the year with
only 11 disabling injuries—the
lowest figure in the history of
Baytown Plants.
