New Shop Building
For Central Lab
Work began about three
weeks ago on the foundation
for a new shop building to
provide space and equipment
storage facilities for the mechani-
cal and maintenance personnel of
the Central Laboratory Area. The
foundation is scheduled to be
finished by March 8 so the con-
tractor can begin construction of
the building.
PRESENT SHOP facilities in-
clude three sheet metal buildings,
a wooden lean-to and a room in
Building 5. The new building will
concentrate all mechanical person-
nel in the area in one location and
will improve working conditions
and housekeeping.
The new 40 by 60 foot building
will be similar in construction to
the one in the Research Center
Area with steel framing and
asbestos cement covering.

eleven members of the Plant Safety Inspection Committee by
H. C. Moran, safety zone supervisor, in the picture above will
soon be familiar to Refinery employees. Their badges will
identify them as they walk through the Plant on their inspection
tours. Each department selects men for the committee. Mem-
bers serve for three months, taking one day per month to inspect
various zones for safety hazards. In the picture, J. B. Alvis
(left) and J. E. Turner receive their badges from Moran.
Others in the photo are, left to right, E. L. F razier, R. J.
Sanders, T. H. Guy, B. B. White, Fred Murphy, W. E. Hogue,
W. H. Walker, M. H. Holitzke and J. E. Lawson.
