Baytown football fans
watched Gander hopes for dis-
trict championship gurgle
down the drain last Friday
night as the local squad lost a
close game to the Pasadena Eagles
8-7.
Leading 7-6 in the last quarter,
the Ganders held the Eagles for
four downs within their five yard
line. Then the Eagle line trapped
Quarterback Don Walker behind
the goal line on the first Gander
play for a safety—two points.
Those two points dropped the Gan-
ders out of the district race.
IT WAS bad luck, not lack of
fighting spirit, that defeated the
Ganders Friday night. They show-
ed more hustle and spirit in the
Pasadena tilt than in any other
game this season.
Tonight the Ganders will tackle
Beaumont at Memorial Stadium.
The Royal Purples will be invad-
ing Bay town with the fresh smell
of victory in their nostrils. They
downed the Freeport Exporters
last week, 32-21.

to a draw in his match.

Refinery hunters itching to
start banging away with their
