| I Early Bird Greets Employees, Gets Fed I
The crow, above, has more or less delegated himself as an early ■
mornin0, “greeter*’ of employees who enter the Plant through the H
San Jacinto Gate. He comes flying in around the Guard House several ■
limes each day starting as early as 7 a.m. to peck at such things as 9
bright foil from chewing gum wrappers and even old cigarette butts. F
He seems to have no fear of the guards or of traffic, merely flitting ■ i
up and over cars and scooters to land again nearby. The crow has J
been hanging around for about a month now, and occasionally
guards will loss it a few scraps from their lunch kits— which prob- 8
ably explains his frequent “inspection trips. ’ Guards E. W. Stewart 3
(seated) and W. A. Hill watch the bird hover like a helicopter as he 6
prepares to pounce on a morsel of food in mid-aii. ■

Tank No. 1043 which is about
360 feet in diameter. Similar
jobs in the past have taken up to
four days longer, but due to co-
operation and availability of
help from other crafts the job
was completed in this new rec-

Tentative plans call for cer-

will be unique for the Refinery.
These items will include a CO

men I men paved the way for
them by getting everything ready
for work. These two crafts were
able to do their work without
interruption, which made it pos-
sible for the Welders to come
along and do their job without
time-consuming delays.
Welders who set the record
are shown in the picture stand-
ing and kneeling on the new
tank bottom they completed last
Monday. Kneeling, from the left,
are: E. Doskocil C. C. Amyett,
H. G. Smith and J. L. Cobb.
Standing, from the left, are: J.
C. Huron, O. H. Jackson, and
E. A. Foster.
