Can you imagine how much hardwork it would be to keep
the many buildings, grounds and units in the Refinery clean
without aid of mechanical equipment? It is estimated that more than
500 pounds of dirt and trash a week are picked up in the Central
Shop by mechanical indoor vacuum c‘

driven scrubbing machine that sprays soapy waler on the floor, scrubs I
it with large brushes, squeegees the surface and sucks the dirty water I •
back .into a receptacle, is also an indispensable aid to good house-
keeping in the big shop. Perhaps one of the best aids to good house-
keeping outside the various buildings and shops, and certainly a piece ||
of equipment that helps eliminate a great personal injury hazard, is a I
relatively simple machine that picks up nails, screws, and other small
pieces of metal that could easily go through a shoe and injure a foot.
Made up of a permanent magnet, a strip of canvas, wheels, and a
handle and draw bar so that it can be pushed by hand or pulled by
tractor or truck, this machine draws metal objects up against the NF t
canvas where they stick until shaken out as demonstrated by J C. I "
