"Athletes come to
our school because
we're a good team
not because they
get paid. They
have to work up to
being a better
team."

" Yes,because
many good ath-
letes do not attend
here because they
cannot get a schol-
arship."
Justin Phillips,

"I think that would
be a hasty decision
since we went 11-
1 last season."

all the financial aid

is no way we could
afford to start it
now."

have one more beer and get; behind
the wheel or take a ride from a frieiid,
and half the time we don't even real-
ize that we are making decisions.
We make these decisions all the
time, and regret them many times,
but we still have to accept responsi-
bility for them. No one can make any
of these decisions for us.
I have my tattoo, and I'll live
with it. It's small and I'm happy with
it. '
When I think about it, as scared
as I was, that was still one of my
easier decisions.

week's game, McAfee added that the
Texans need to "learn from the
situations faced in last weeks game.
If we keep putting ourselves in a
position to win we'll get our

pus. It seems that one day several
graduate students assisting Profes-
sor Daniel Webster with compiling
and editing his first dictionary in-
serted a sentence in the notes to the
print shop asking them to change a
number of letters to silent letters.
This one prank make the language
we use today nearly as impossible to
spell for non-English speaking stu-
dents.
Today at Tarleton we can find
evidence of the faculty's humor
merely by looking at the.bulletin
boards hidden away in the faculty
lounges. There you will find care-
fully highlighted samples of the worst
examples of student writing and test
taking with editorial comments at-
tached like "Who says there is no
such thing as Bigfoot? This example
of rhetorical nonsense on the subject
of capital punishment was written by
someone in my advanced composi-
tion class!"
The historical examples I've
cited all illustrate pranks played upon
faculty by their students. I assure
you that there are numerous examples
of faculty exacting revenge today.
The primary difference being the
element of high-tech gimmicks at
their disposal.
In the course of researching this
column I have uncovered evidence
of the most dastardly, underhanded,
conniving plot I've ever had the
misfortune to dieover. It seems that
the private dining hall located in the
student, center has: a special remote
control which enables any faculty
member to switch the large screen
T.V. from The Young and the Rest-
less to Country Music Television
and a special two-way glass through
which all of the faculty can observe
the fierce fist fights that break out
whenever they do it.
Who says teachers can't be
funny?
