Tarleton band hosts band festival

t The Tarleton Texan band will
be hosting a high school marching
festival at Memorial Stadium on
Saturday, October 12, beginning at
noon.
Mr. Jonathan Hooper, Director
of the Texan band, slated "This is the

festival. We have bands represent-
ing Class 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A
schools."
Five high school bands will be
in attendance including the bands of
Hillsboro, Stephenville, Glen Rose,
Clifton and Bosqueville.
In addition, the Texan band will
be marching an exhibition show. Hie
band will perform 'Trooper Salute",
a medley of Civil War, songs, '
"America the Beautiful", John Phil-
lip Sousa's "Stare and Stripes For-
ever" and "Appalachian Spring". Hie
band will march at approximately
1:15 p.m.
Corey Blubaugh, a freshman
percussionist from Andrews, said,
"It's an honor to hold a marching,
festival here at Tarleton. It's a new
experience for all of us. May the best
baiid win:" '•

"U.S.S.C", promotes multicul-
tural awareness in addition to
trying to develop unity among
men and women in a social at-
mosphere. This club is designed
for all students at Tarleton State
University.

all have been praised by many fac-
ulty and students as being the best
homcoming in recent years.
"I was real pleased with how
homecoming went overall this year.

midnight breakfast was great and we
won the football game! It gets better
and better every year," Bart Brad-
