had changed. "TIME'S UP."
I've riot been alone for the
last twenty-four hours. Friends
and relatives alike have kept vigil
with me. The police say there is
nothing they can do. I can't keep
this up much longer. If
something is going to happen, I
wish ifwquiiha^n/opn. ,, ...
Still, if sonjqbody out, there

cards? If there is a picture of a
sailboat sailing along a tropical
island, look through the deck for
the eight of spades. If you can't
find it...run.
Have a nice Halloween.

and my coffee table, and carpet have
become downtown Tokyo to him.
Everyone else in the room flees,
screaming in terror, as "Pukezilla"
rampages through my living room in
a blind, violent attempt to reach my
bathroom.
****************************
Then I stand there looking at
this harmless container in my hand,
and one last memory comes to me.
One that I try to avoid sometimes,
but that always seems to be with me,
and catches me when I'm least pre-
pared for it..
****************************
I remember sitting in a hospital
waiting room, waiting for one of my
best friends, Scott, to either wake up
or die. His truck flipped three times
end over end, and each time the
doctors come back they have worse
news than the time before.
I remember going out into the
patio because I don't want Scott's
mom to see me crying, because I'm
tired, and I'm starting to lose faith.
I hear my friends talking about
going to Brent's funeral Brent was
the passenger in the truck who died
in the wreck, and I wonder if H be
going to Scott's funeral next.
I remember talking on the phone
to friends and relatives, but I can't
finish my sentences because I can't
think of anything positive to say, and
the tears keep coming.
I remember hearing about the
bottle of Vodka, but nobody has any
clear answers, and Scott just keeps
falling.
Mostly, I remember wishing I
could go back in time and change
things, but I can't.
The memories crash in on me,
and sometimes, I put the beer down
because I've had all I want for a
while. Sometimes, I realize that if
I'm going to be adult enough to drink,
I need to be adult enough to know
when not to drink.
Scott lived, and he's doing well
now. Everytime I talk to him, I thank
God that he is okay. Then, I hope
that all my friends will be safe, be-
cause this life is all we have, and I
don't want to lose any of them.
Halloween is here now, and for
some people, it is an all night reason
to party, but please be careful. Col-
lege is a time when we should make
memories, not become them.

Writer for the J-TAC.
Although he never had
any formal photography lessons
or he learned his skill by
reading books, studying photo
essays and participating in work-
shops. Lilly travels all around
the country photographing differ-
ent scenes in the U.S.. which is
part of the reason he choose land-
scdpSrphoiography.
/ "I like to ber>outdoors
and I love beautiful places," he
said.
Lilly not only enjoys
the actual taking of pictures but
the whole process. He develops
his own film while taking ex-
treme care with each negative.
Lilly joked he even liked matting
and framing when he had time.
Currently living in
Graham with his wife Ann and
the last of his four children
Mark, Lilly now owns a gallery
from which he distributes his art
throughout the Southwest. His
work is also displayed in an art
gallery in Weatherford. , ;
Lilly's work will be on
display in the gallery of the Fine
Arts building through Nov. 14.
Twenty-nine works are on
display including photographs of
Monument Valley at moonrise,
&WPACKAGE
New England aspens, a Terlingua
cemetary, bluebonnets, Slot
Canyon and many other scenic
picures.
Lilly, whose daughter
Chris Carruth is a junior English
major at Tarleton, donated 30
percent of the sales of his pho-
tographs to the English depart-
ment scholarship fund.
^ Other donations were
given by United Telephones of
Texas who underwrote the ex-
penses for the evening. Dr.
Long, Dean of the Department
of English and Languages, said
the department raised between
$5,000 and $6,000 for the schol-
arship endowment fund during
the evening.
