the electorate in Louisiana want to
hear.
His views on taxation, govern-
ment spending waste and crime are
conservative and it's difficult for
anyone who's a conservative not to
agree with him on these specific
points. The conservative is being
placed in the tenuous position of
having a despicable character act as
thei^ spokesman.
:■ It'sj a no-win scenario.
There's little doubt that people
are caught in a dilemmas. In exit
poles conducted in the last; election,
most people stated that they did not
vote for Dukkke, yet the tally of the
votes indicate that many of them did
in feet vote for Dukkke. This shows
that they realize how wrong it looks
for them to vote for him, yet in their
hearts they think he's the right choice.
A Dallas bas9d Afro-American
radio talk show host has announced
, that he is supporting Mr. Dukkke in
his bid for the Governor's mansion.
In his case, he's made no secret of the
fact that he is delighted to have a
forma- KKK grand wizard as a con-
servative candidate because it makes
the conservative cause look so damn
bad.
He points at Dukkke's racism as
typical of all conservatives. It's like
me saying that when he's not in a bar
or a car, Kennedy's a fine liberal and
therefore all liberals are lushes and
misogynists ... I wouldn't say that!
The message to the liberals is,
people have gotten so fed up with the
status quo that they are willing to conservatives.
elected official, he was selling books
out of his office claiming that Hitler
had the right idea in exterminating
the Jews and that the Holocaust was
just a hoax. This leopard hasn't
changed his spots*, he's merely hid-
ing them in the shade a little better.
The message in Lousiana is an
ominous one for both the liberals and
:t a., snake like Dukkke.
problem I have with David Dul
(lean be condensed down to a bumper
sticker; David Dukkke- A VOTE
FOR THE MAN IS A VOTE FOR
THE KLAN!
He has been careful to refer back
to his days as a Sheet Wearing Bigot
in terms of his just being young. This
says nothing.
He has not repudiated the
dogma of ignorance and hatred which
the Klan has and still does preach.
He's careful not to say this. It's only
been a couple of years when, as an
jmntfi
In:> the!; primary election two
things occured; the1' clear majority of
democrats and republicans alike cast
their voted conservative, and of that
majority most voted for Dukkke.
This tells the liberals which way the
wind is blowing ideologically in their
state and it tells the conservatives
that they should have done a better
job of backing the conservative
candidate who opposed Dukkke.
Like I said, ain't nothing funny
in politics!

Rapelling is often the event most
readily associated with Tarleton's
ROTC program.
While it may also serve as an at-
tention-getter, it's main function is to
instill confidence in ROTC mem-
bers.
This semester's drill cm October
23 between 3 p.m, and 5 p.m„ Each
cadet had to rapell from the roof of
the Humanities building twice to
complete the requirements of this
exercise.
In years past any student who
was interested could sign a waiver
and rapell with the ROTC. However,
beginning this year, students not in-
volved with the core will not be
allowed to participate because of
insurance purposes.

Challenge Team will be competing

gram as recipient of this donation,"
McCabe said. "We are very fortu-
nate to receive donations which will
further student progress and program
development."
As well as receiving 2 percent
of the track's earnings for the day,
Tarleton and its equine program will
be advertised on the score board and
the public announcement system,
track officials said.
Post time for Thursday's races
will be 1 p.m. with the gates opening
at noon.
Teams at Fort Hood, Texas, from
November 8-9.
Some of the events they will be
competing in will include a six-mile
road march, rifle markmanship,
weapons assembly/disassembly, ori-
enteering and rope-bridge building.
On November 20, the ROTC
will be having a water survival class
in the Tarleton swimming pool in
Wisdom Gym.
The Wainwright Rifles Preci-
sion Drill Team will be marching in
the Crew of Iris Parade during Marti-
Gras in New Orleans, La. This event
will take place between February
27-30.
From April 24-25 the ROTC
will be involved in a Multiple Inte-
grated Laser Engagement Systems
exercise at Camp Bowie.
May 1 is when the Awards and
Commissioning Exercise will be
held.
