Last year the Texans were sec-
ond in the nation in points allowed at
59. They were able to hold the Bull-
dogs to five points under the mark,
"We had to play so hard on
defense is was tough to remember
we also had to score," said Texan
Steve Sassman. But Sassman must
not of thought it was too hard as he
led the team in scoring with 15.
For the night, the Texans led by
as many as llpoints, but the tough
Bulldogs chomped the marie down to
two on a few occasions, but they
Were never able to take the lead.
"This early in the year we played
great defense against an experienced
Concordia team," said Texan Coach
Lon Reisman. "Both Sassman and
Mark Smith played excellent de-
fense. Edward, Milton, Mark Mar-
ino, Lovell Doyle and Joe
also had super nights."
Hicks
"I would like to thank all the
organizations for coming out to-
night," Reisman added "I would
like to thank the Band, the Plow-
boys, the Cheerleaders, the student
body, the athletic teams, the Poo, the
faculty and the community. With-
out the great support and noise they
provided I'm not sure we would of
won."
On the night the Texans were
led in scoring by Sassman, Doyle
and Milton, each scoring in double
figures. Hicks led the team in re-
bounds with seven and Smith added
four blocks.
This next week the Texans win
be hitting the road starting with a
tournament in Kansas on Wednes-
day and then they will head to Ala-
bama for another tournament start-
