Mr. Uarklie McKee Henry P. 0. Box 684 Princeton, New Jersey Dear Buz: Ruth and I both appreciate very much your note of the 18th and the letters you have written for Sandy. I agree with you. I don't imagine any of these letters will do too much good, but we went down to the school to ask them how we should proceed, so I thought I had better follow out their suggestions. I also agree thoroughly that there are many other good colleges. Surely Brown is among them. I have no "all or nothing" feeling about Sandy going to Harvard. Besides the sentimental reasons I have a feeling that le is capable of really exploring the vistas of knowledge that will open up before him and I was anxious that he do this at a place where his explorations would not be impeded by a sort of public indifference to this sort of thing. In other words, he is the type of student if the climate is scholastic he will exercise his mind and if the climate is not scholastic he will probably be perfectly happy to enjoy him- self. I know what the climate is like at Harvard. I am: not too sure of it elsewhere. Ruth and I are planning to see you and Margaret when we come up to Sandy's graduation in June. Meantime, with best love to you both, I remain Sincerely,
