For many Tarleton students, the war
in Iraq is a headline from a distant tand.
But for a handful of Tarleton students
who have been to Iraq/ the War is more
than a stbry. It is part of their history. .
Of over 7,000 students at Tarletoh's
Stephenville campus, there are about
200 veterans, according to ;the Veterans
Affairs Office. It was uncledr how many
have helped to fight the war. How-
ever, as Veteran's Day approaches, six
Tarleton vets who have served in Iraq
shared their stories of friendship, fears
and faith forged while fighting a. war:

18 Proposal to include yearbook

By D'LEESA KEYS

- * The pffice of Student
Publications has offered
a referendum to Student
Government requesting
that a new fee be added to
student tuition that would
pay for every student at
Tarleton to have a Grassburr
yearbook This new fee was
* recommended because of the
■4 trouble selling the yearbook
the Office of Student Publica-
tions has had during recent
10 yearS-
"This past'spring, Stu-
dent Government tried to
come up with an optional
fee so students could decide
whether or not they wanted
a yearbook or not online,"
Casey Hogan, student body
president, said. "But be-

Time capsule to
be stored in library
By GASTON
McDORMAN
Staff Writer
On Friday, Not. 10, a time
capsule full' of items from 2006
will be packed away in the
Dick Smith Library. The cap-
sule will be opened in 2056.
The capsule ceremony will
begin at 10 a.m., with a speech
by President-Dennis P. McCabe
and Student Body President
Casey Hogan. The program
will then proceed with refresh-
ments.
According to Donna Sav-
age, ^the.university librarian,
the location of the last capsule,
buried in 1956, was thought to
be lost. Maintenance wqrkers
happened to find the capsule
in a dumpster during a. 1984
renovation of the library and
' rescued it. The- capsule was
opened to the public in March,
and its contents are on display
in the library
The library staff is hoping
that things will go somewhat
smoother with the 2006 time
capsule, according to Savage.
The capsule's location will be
marked and remembered, and
will sit and wait until 2056,
Savage said.
