Cited as chapter sweetheart by Xi Epsilon Alpha is Debra Cook, who has been
involved in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for four years at Tulia and two years in
Hereford. She is currently the corresponding secretary for the exemplar
chapter. In addition to her sorority work, Mrs. Cook has served as a Hereford
School Volunteer and has helped with the Mother’s Day Out program,
sponsored by First United Methodist Church, of which she is a member. A
native of Tulia, she is married to Doug Cook, who is employed by
Southwestern Public Service here. They have two children, Crystal, 6, and
Ryan, 1%. Mrs. Cook's hobbies include crafts, sewing, cooking and activities
with children.

Lillie Shipman, the sweetheart representing Alpha Alpha Preceptor Chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, has been active in BSP for seven years. She has
served in various chapter offices and is past president of the City BSP Council.
Mrs. Shipman and her husband Jerry have been Hereford residents for the
past 16 years, moving here from their hometown of Happy. The Shipmans
enjoy square dancing and are active members of Merry Mixers Square Dance
Club, in which they are currently serving as treasurer. They also participate in
snow and water skiing, camping and fishing.

A member of Alpha lota Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi for two years, Susan
Shaw is their honoree as 1980 Valentine sweetheart. She is currently serving in
the capacity of social chairman for the group. A native of Hereford, Mrs. Shaw
is active in Community Concert Association, Hereford Chamber Singers,
Hereford Music Study Club and Hereford Panhellenic Association. She is a
graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in music education. She
became a member of Sigma Kappa and Mu Phi Epsilon sororities while
attending college. She was employed as a music teacher at Tierra Blanca
Elementary School for five years and Is currently teaching private voice and
piano lessons. She is an active member of First Baptist Church, where she has
served as president of Baptist Young Women, junior choir director and third
grade Sunday School teacher. She and her husband, Sid, have one son, Scott,
age 2.

Kappa Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi has honored Susan Sublett as their I960
sweetheart. Mrs. Sublett Is currently serving as president of the KI chapter.
She also is involved In Hereford Panhellenic Association and the Chamber of
Commerce Women's Division. A 1969 graduate of Borger High School, Mrs.
Sublett earned her bachelor of science degree In speech and hearing therapy
from West Texas State University. She is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha
National Social Sorority. She is married to Troy Sublett, a farmer and they
have a daughter, Taylor, who is 3. They are members of First Baptist Church,
where Mrs. Sublett teaches a third grade Sunday School class.
