Once again bn the bank* of the
Nolan River, Wednesday, the Mene-
tee familyi pioneers of Johnson
County, had the pleasure of meeting
in their annual reunion;
This was their 55th family gather-
ing and for the past 52 years the
group has met at George Smth’s
Springs on the Nolan River. This
is the site of the old Granger Hall
School, where the Menefee children
attehded school, using a foot log to
cross the river.

land grants in Harris. Leon, Hill and
Johndbn Counties in the year 1864,
the two brothers, W. O. and H. F
Menefee, moved their families to
Johnson County and settled on ad-

bank nt the Nolan River. In later
years W. O. Menefee moved to Cle-
burne.
In the year 1892, two sods of the

family reunion, an exhibit was dis-
played. Family relies, scrapbooks,
paper documents of the family his-,
tory, and a plaque showing the part,
the Menefee name has played In the
nation's wars. This plaque dates,
back to the year of 1500, including
the countries of France. England.
