HEREFORD MERCANTILE COMPANY 1
HEREFORD, TEXAS
HEREFORD IN LINE.
For the Texas Exhibit at the St.
Louis Worlds Fair in 1904.
As the legislature could not ap-
propriate state funds for the Texas
exhibit at the World's Fair, to be
held in St. Louis next year, the citi-
zens of the state have volunteered to
raise $100,000 and already the
people from the eastern and southern
portions of the state are commencing
to raise funds. It is now in order
for Hereford, being the most pro-
gressive town in the Panhandle, to
start the move for the people of the
Panhandle. There have been a
number of subscriptions taken al-
ready for that purpose in Hereford
and we hope the list will be swelled
enough by next week's issue to pub-
lish the names of the subscribers.
The Brand office, both banks and
the different real estate offices are
each provided with books upon which
subscriptions may be entered, the
subscriptions being payable on the
first day of July next, providing the
$100,000 has been thus raised, other-
wise the subscriptions are non-pay-
able.
Public School Entertainment.
On Friday night, April 24th, the
Hereford Public School will give an

school library, etc. The daily
sessions of the association will be
he held at the public school building.

Dr. Fannie G. Waite, the eyesight
specialist who is permanently located
in Seewalds's Jewelry Store in
Amarillo has decided to make a few
visits to Hereford for the benefit of
those who are in need of honest,
satisfactory optical services. If you
have eye ache or head ache, if the
letters run together after reading a
few minutes or if your eyelids itch
or burn, glasses will cure you if
properly fitted. Dr. Waite has been
in Amarillo almost a year and
dozens of gratified patients are ready
to testify to her skill. She will be
in Lee Smith's Jewelry Store (in
connection with Gass' Dry Goods
Store) from Friday noon, April 24th,
until Saturday, April 25th, at 4.
