Fred S. Robbins, chairman of the
Matagorda County Conservation and
Reclamation Board, received yester-
day a tidegram from Geenral George
W Goethals stating that he would
arrive in Bay City Monday morning
to begin his work on the solution of
our river problem. The general has
stated that since he is coming here
on a strictly business mission, he will
have no time whatever for any kind
of social affairs.
The Bay City Rotary Club is mak-
ing large preparations for a special
Thanksgiving luncheon to be given
on Tuesday, November 24. They
have secured two prominent speak-
ers for the occasion. Sid Hardin, of
Mission, Texas, who is district gov-
ernor for the 47th District, and Judd
Mortimer Lewis, of the Houston Post-
Dispatch.
The luncheon will be held at the
regular hour and each Rotarian will
be privileged to invite as many guests
as he may choose.
