Past Activities
Wednesday, Dec. 29: We had coffee & snacks, then Bible
study. Willard Flemming filled in for Terry, who was ill. After
lunch, Karen Holster came for the beauty shop. We started
something new in the afternoon when we had the residents cro-
chet. Some brought their own and worked on it, others tried to
learn how. Thirteen residents participated and had a wonderful
time. We've decided to do this more, on a regular basis.
Thursday, Dec. 30: Care Plans were discussed with residents,
families and employees in the morning, others were having cof-
fee and exercise. In the afternoon, volunteers were here for
bingo. When the Yoakum Herald-Times came, they all got busy
catching up on the news.
Friday, Dec. 31: Coffee was served and then Bernice Watson
came to have communion with the residents, followed by exer-
cise. In the afternoon, we blew up the ole balloon for volleyball.
We hit, kicked, pushed, slapped and anything we could to keep it
going without hitting the floor. The residents really like playing
balloon volleyball, and it's good exercises for them.
Saturday, Jan. 1: New Year's Day
Sunday, Jan. 2: It was Catholic Mass on TV in the morning,
then Assembly of God in the afternoon.
Monday, Jan. 3: It was coffee and exercise in the A. M. At
noon time, Bernice Benbow opened the beauty shop then the
residents had the option to play dominoes, since Pastor Diekhoff
was still gone. - - - -

Pilot Club Aids YCH Building Fund
THE BUILDING FUND FOR THE PROPOSED new Yoakum Community Hospital received a much-appreci-
ated boost from the Pilot Club of Yoakum this week. Julia Franz, president of the local Pilots, is shown pre-
senting a check for $1,000 to Hospital Administrator Elwood E "Buzz' Currier, Jr. "This donation repre-
sents more than just the dollar amount," Currier said. "It is an expression of faith in the future of rural
.healthcare in Yoakum and the surrounding area."

School at Dallas in 1976. He
completed a 4-year residency
at John Peter Smith Hospital in
Fort Worth in 1979.
After completing his train-
ing, Dr. Moehlman practiced
in Fort Worth from 1979
through 1993. During that
period, he also served as Med-
ical Director for various insur-
ance companies in the Fort
Worth area.
Dr. Moehlman says he
considers himself to be "almost
a native of Yoakum." He has
been coming "home" to visit
once a month ever since he
began his medical practice in
1979 and had always con-
sidered that "Yoakum would be
a good place to retire some
day."
In 1993, Dr. Moehlman
decided to relocate his practice
to Yoakum because he "got
tired of the big city." He
contacted Yoakum Commun-
ity Hospital Administrator El-
wood E. Currier, Jr., in Sep-
tember about the possibility of
relocating his practice to Yoa-
kum. Things have developed
rapidly since then.
Moehlman says he looks
forward to his new life in Yoa-
kum because he has family
here and because the town "has
a nice atmosphere. You meet
people you know everywhere."
