Many people are aware that 2 years ago I was faced with a
life-threatening emergency and was taken to Yoakum Com-
munity Hospital. Because of the emergency treatment that I re-
ceived there, I am alive today to write this letter.
I have heard some people say that we don't need a hospital -
that there are hospitals in Victoria, San Antonio, or Austin when

health care for the indigent.
If we don’t do what is necessary now to keep our local hospi-
tal, that money will be sent to some other town to provide that
care. It's a pretty good bet that our taxes will go up if that's the
case. I think it makes better sense to spend our money locally to
insure that we have healthcare available to us here at home when
we it's needed.
We the voters of Yoakum Hospital District hold the future of
Yoakum's Hospital in our vote on May 7, 1994. The hospital
does a fine job and we need the help of the Citizens of Yoakum
Hospital District to keep our hospital open to treat the True
Emergencies, help the sick patients, and deliver new babies.
Please Vote FOR The May 7th Bond Issue.
Sincerely, y

Children in abusive situations are helpless and scared. They
feel there is no where for them to turn for safety. We must be
aware that child abuse occurs in 3 out of 10 children. Abused
children carry the feelings of inadequacy and low self-estem
into adulthood, thereby, becoming members of a society operat-

you need help NOW you will want to know that there are medi-

The same is true for parents with a sick child in the middle of’
the night or a child with a broken bone. You don't want to go
somewhere out of town to find help for your child.
It's easy to say we don’t need a hospital here in Yoakum when
you haven’t faced a situation like that, but it won't be so easy to
say when you need help fast.
Some people are against building a new hospital because it
will mean that taxes for the Hospital Tax District will go up. I
would just like to remind these people that whether we build a
new hospital or not, we arc still going to be required to provide

future. We must be there for our children, and assure them, as
well as their parents, that help and healing is available from

I thank you for your time in reading this and pray this lettkr
