Authorities say a top Cuero
High student was drunk when
he apparently became disori-
ented and laid down to rest on
a section of SH 72 about 2
miles from the city early Sun-
day morning.
Eric Afflerbach, 18, died
Monday in a San Antonio
hospital from injuries received
when 2 cars ran over him.
The youth and some friends
reportedly celebrated their
victory the previous night at a
high school science regional
meet with a few drinks.
At the celebration, the
friends believed Afflerbach
was not sober enough to drive
and took his car keys. He left
