O'Rourke recently died. Order

This book is a gold mine of
genealogical information on
many families who settled in
Yoakum and have descendants
here. O'Rourke says that there
are a greater number of these
descendants in the Yoakum
area than in any other compa-
rable area of the country.
Family names include
Brown, Brewer, Cissell, Dunn,
Hogan, Holster, Knott, Layton,
Manning, May, Moore, Miles,
Rainey, Riley, Simpson, Smith,
Spaulding, Tucker and many
more.
O'Rourke spent several weeks
in Yoakum in 1971 gathering
information on these families

The local group, which meets
on Tuesdy afternoons in the
