Castro Counfy Corner.
Earl Warren was calling on Miss
Katie Golden Sunday eve.
The singing at Mr. Brayte's Sun-
day eve was well attended.
The farmers are busy preparing
the land for oats and spring wheat.
• O! Earl, who are those pretty
girls visiting at the ranch this week
from Texico?
Robert Mount, o £ Hereford, was
looking after his cattle Tuesday
which he has on feed at Mr. Hewetts.
Messrs Earl Warren and Frank
Ellsworth are getting to be famous
for making so much good taffy can-
dy.
Earl, what are you traveling to-
ward Arney so often for? they only
have preaching every second Sun-
day.
Mr. Frank Ellsworth, made a so-
cial call at Mr. Boydston's Sunday,
look out, Frank, for Mr. Boydston's
Greyhounds, drag it, they are com-
ing.
Rev. Morgan ñlled his regular
appointment at Arney Sunday.
We are sorry to hear of Varner
Richards being confined to his bed
with measles, but hope he will soon
recover.
The party at Mr. and Mrs. Rick-
etts, on the night of the 8th, was
well attended and all expressed them-
selves as having a huge time.
Frank Ellsworth quit working for
Earl Warren Tuesday, to go into
Amarillo Light and Water Com-

Proposed Tax on Bachelors.
Representative Liveley of Dallas
has had prepared, and will likely in-
troduce in a few days, a bill impos-
ing an annual tax on bachelors. For
the purpose of the proposed act bach-
elors are divided into three classes
as follows:
Between the ages of twenty fiive
and thirty years, class one (1) on
which is imposed a yearly tax of $5
00; between the ages of thirty and
thirty five years, class two (2) who
are to pay $10.00 per year; over
thirty five years of age class three
(3) who are to pay $25.00 per an-
num.
If the bill should become a law,
which is not at all probable, Mr.
Lively himsef would de subject to
the tax of $10.00 imposed on bache-
lors of class two. The bill exempts
all persons who are, under the law,
exempt from the payment of Poll
taxes.
