TWENTY THOUSAND CLUB.
One Hundred Citizens Take Stock
in the Enterprise.
In last week's Brand it was stated
that a movement was on foot to or-
ganize a Twenty thousand club for
Hereford, the purpose of which is
to make this a city of 20,000 people
by the dawning of 1910. The pri-
mary promoters of this were W. D.
Keliehor and L. A. Hough, and the
fact that they have succeeded in in-
teresting nearly every business man
and capitalist in the enterprise shows
wftti what favor their plans have
been received by the public. In this
instance, as in all others, our people
have gone oa record as doing the
right thing at the right time.
We give below the original peti-
tion and the names of those taking
stock, each subscribing $5 00. The
club will be incorporated and the us-
ual number of officers will be elected.
The list is as follows:
We, the undersigned citizens of
Hereford, Texas, agree to become
charter members of the 20,000 Com-
mercial Club, and hereby agree to
take one share cf stock to be paid
upon the completion of the organiza-
tion, for which a meeting is called
for June 17th, at 8 o'clock p. m
bharp, at the court house in Here-
ford. Texas.

Married.
The Brand force was surprised
almost beyond measure this week
when the announcement was made
that one of their number was about
to quit the realm of single blessed-
ness and take unto himself a better
half. Thinking that it was perhaps
a joke the rumor was lightly esteem-
ed until Wednesday afternoon when
furniture, hardware and dry goods
dealers with wagon loads of wares
came to the office to be directed to
Smith McLeroy's residence and
then we knew that the inevitable
was to take place and that right early
Mrs. W. B. Robinson's home in
North Hereford was the scene of the
happy event and the contracting par-
ties were Miss Grace Robinson and
Mr. Smith McLeroy. The knot was
tied hard and fast Wednesday even-
ing at 9 o'clock, by the beautiful
and impressive Methodist Episcopal
ceremony, pronounced by Rev. Vic-
tor Trammell of Dimmitt. Only a
few of the immediate friends and reli-
tives were present.
The bride is a most excellent
young lady and is a daughter of one
of the oldest and most widely known
families of Hereford. The groom
has been in the city only about six
months, during which time he has
been connected with the Brand office
and by his persistent, steady wotk
and good nature has won many
friends and admirers.
The Brand wishes this happy
couple all success possible in their
new relations.
