a genuine sensation in that line.

A great curiosity in the way of
a petrified man has been on exhi-
bition in the city several days this
week and has attracted considera-
ble attention. A great number’ot
citizens have gone to seethe won-
der and every one has been struck
with astonishment. Those who
were skeptical and believed the
thing to be a fraud were dispos-
sessed of that idea by the first
glance at the body. The body is
well preserved, symmetrical as is
the human form, and presents in-
dications that indisputably estab- i
lish that the body, which is now
the hardest of stone, was once a
living human being. This great
curiosity was found 600 feet in a
cave in the wilds of New Mexico,
