today that the forces of Marshal
Josip Broa (Tito) are engaged in
heavy fighting in Western and Cen-
tral Bosnia to break up an attempt-
ed five-pronged German drive into
Partisan territory.
A broadcast communique said the
general Nast offensive, first diss inend
yesterday, was employing Infantry,
motorized and tank units. The
fighting centers around Banja Luka,
from which the partisans were forc-
ed to withdraw last week.
The communique declared a Chet-
nik brigade was defeated decisively
in Serbia*and much war material
captured. •
The partisanse battled in Mace-
donia with both German and Bul-
garian troops The war bulletin
said the Bulgarians were defeated
with 30 of the force killed and many
taken prisoner. .
More than 70 Germans were said

Mrs. Sam Lehrman returned Fri-
day from spending three weeks
with her husband, who is located at
Davisville, R I., as electrician’s
mate first class in the U. B. Seabees.
While there she saw their son-in-
law. Sgt. F. E Kilgore of the U. S.
Air Corps, who had been in Eng-
laqd 19 months and had been re-
turned to this country after being
hospitalized in England nine
months following injuries received
in a Jeep wreck. Mrs Lehrman
was accompanied borne by her sis-
