FORT WORTH (AP) - A North
Texas teenager has been sentenced
to life in prison for sexually
assaulting and then killing a
6-year-old neighbor last year.
Tarrant County prosecutors

sentenced after pleading guilty
Thursday to murder and other
charges. Holder must serve at
least 50 years before parole can be
considered.
The body of Alanna Gallagher
was found July 1, 2013, on a
residential street in Saginaw,
north of Fort Worth. Her head
was covered with plastic bags and
her body wrapped in a tarp.
Prosecutors say DNA linked
Holder to the crime.
They say later that month
Holder set fire to the Gallagher
home, burning a portion of it.
He also pleaded guilty to
attempted capital murder for
shooting a police officer who later
attempted to arrest him.
BELTON (AP) - A Central Texas
prosecutor says he’ll seek the death
penalty against a 49-year-old man
charged in the shooting death of
a police officer who was serving a
warrant.
The Killeen Daily Herald reports
(http://bit.ly/lwaXoOK) Bell County
District Attorney Henry Garza said
Thursday during a court hearing
that he’ll pursue the penalty against
Marvin Louis Guy. A grand jury
in June indicted Guy on a capital
murder charge in the death of Killeen
officer Charles “Chuck” Dinwiddie.
Dinwiddie and three fellow officers
were shot May 9 while serving
a drug-related warrant at Guy’s
apartment. Dinwiddie died two days
later at a hospital.
He’s also charged with three counts
of attempted capital murder. He’s
being held on a $4.5 million bond.
Online jail records do not indicate
an attorney for Guy.
IRVING (AP) - Retail gasoline
prices across Texas have dropped
3 cents this week to settle at $3.23
per gallon.
AAA Texas on Thursday
reported the statewide decline
compares to nationwide gas prices
that held steady at $3.43 per
gallon.
Drivers in El Paso have the
most expensive gasoline in Texas
this week at $3.31 per gallon.
The association survey found
Beaumont has the cheapest
gasoline statewide at $3.18 per
gallon.
AAA officials say developments
in Ukraine and Iraq continue to
draw attention but oil markets
have moved steadily lower,
reflecting the assessment that
global supplies remain unaffected.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - A
former secretary for a San Antonio
medical-related business has been
sentenced to 10 years in prison for
stealing nearly $1 million from the
company.

in prison if convicted.
