Dear Hairdresser: It is now
18 minutes past my scheduled
appointment and I am sitting
here in your shop waiting
You have just removed the
curlers from the hair of the
appointment before me, so I
know it will be several more
minutes before you get to me
I realize your time is
valuable, but so is mine I had
to leave work early to get
here and will have to make up
the time I miss. If I walk out
now you will be angry and it
may be two weeks before I
can get another appointment
Had I known you were going
to be so late. I could have
worked longer or run some
errands But I will be polite
and remain silent and you
will probably expect a tip
even though you were 30
minutes late

When homemakers are
asked what their hobbies are,
many respond with typical
replies such as club work,
painting, etc.
Some get right down to the
nitty-gritty and tell it like it
is, as did Sara Cook, wife of
Dr. Ronald L. Cook, new
First Baptist Church pastor
' 'I'm involved in raising my
children and cleaning
house," laughed Sara. "But
when time allows. I enjoy do-
ing counted cross-stitch, sew-
ing and I love English smock-
ing."
"I first learned to smock
while living in Decatur, Ga.,
a suburb of Atlanta," explain-
ed Sara. "I was pregnant
with Claire at the time. I was
so certain that I was going to
have a daughter, that I made
her a coming home dress, hat
and bonnet. I was very op-
timistic or very silly one."
The Cooks moved to
Hereford in February, and
reside at 108 Oak. Sara saw
the town in December for the
first tune and recalls that it
was fairly dusty
Her first impression of
Hereford was very positive
"I was amazed at the many
businesses and industries a
town of this size had," ex-
plained Sara "I have a Ber-
nina sewing machine and was

have to go to have it serviced
