The Allen Eagles saw their
12-game victory string come to
an end Thursday night after
suffering a 51-50 setback at the
hands of Coppell.
The contest, played in the
Super Pit in Denton, was a
warm-up for two teams bound
for the playoffs.
“We just didn’t play very
well,” Allen assistant Steve
King said in summing up the
Eagles performance. King said
a number of turnovers con-
tributed to the outcome.
Another key was the sub-par
scoring efforts of Jody Reeves
and Kevin Williams. “When
Reeves only scores 12 points
and Williams two we’re in a lot
of trouble,” King said.
Joey McCullough scored 16
f
Dr. Horn said.
“We are going to try very
hard to bring someone in who
will continue the sound athletic
program we now have,” he add-
ed.
Coach Pearce resigned his
position with Allen to take the
head coaching position at Sher-
man High School.
In other business, board
members hired David Williams
to replace Dr. Monte Geren as
Plano
424-7834
points to pace Allen.
Coppell, showing patience
and good shot selection offen-
sively, managed to pull in front
by nine points midway through
the second half.
At that point the Eagles’
press (half-court trap) began to
pay dividends and Allen surged
ahead 50-47.
Coppell then scored, cutting
the margin to one before hitting
both ends of a one-and-one free
throw situation. That allowed
Coppell to take the lead and the
victory as the Eagles failed to
put any more points on the
board.
Allen’s record now stands at
30-5 as the Eagles get set for
their bi-district game with
Joshua tomorrow night.

Staff Writer of The American
Coach Steve Williams’ Allen Eagles will journey into bi-district
action Tuesday night as they meet Joshua, champions of District
12-A A A.
Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Duncanville high school gym.
Joshua is ranked seventh in one cage poll and tenth in another.
Williams has described the opponent as “big, talented, good
shooters—much like us.”
The one difference in the teams is the type of offense employed—
Joshua preferring to fast-break while Allen runs a more deliberate
and patterned attack.
Tickets will be sold at the door at a cost of $3 for adults and $2 for
students.
To get to Duncanville, take 1-35 south to Highway 67. Exit off
Highway 67 on Camp Wisdom Road and go west. Duncanville
