When we bring these worries and problems to God, I still seem to
worry. How can I get it off my mind? Here is what seems to be quite
successful for many Christians. You are not responsible for
O.K. So I’m not supposed to worry. How am I going to get relief
from this overwhelming problem? Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:25-34
with whom I have discussed the possibility
think it is an inevitable reality.
that God will supply all of our physical needs in this life. He tells us
the real priority in life, what we should be most concerned about, is
living under God’s complete control and living the way He wants us
to. If that’s our goal, everything else will fit into place.
I CERTAINLY hope not. It would be nice
to see the citizens of Allen remain in their
present cooperative status, much like a cou-
ple of other cities which straddle Hwy. 75,
Sherman and Denison.
Their business communities are somewhat
divided but the communities as a whole
work together in most projects which
benefit the city.
This is brought about because there is on-
ly one high school serving each city and for
That may sound idealistic, but a seasoned and experienced Paul
agrees with it. A man who had experienced beatings, robbery, im-
prisonment, homelessness and much more tells us that we ought not
worry about anything. Instead, we are to bring every concern to
God in prayer, with a spirit of thanksgiving. Paul isn’t saying that
we should be thankful for pressure and stress and difficulties, but
rather that God is at work in and through virtually every situation,
and we should be thankful for the end result in our lives.
AND THIS IS GOOD, to a certain extent,
because it lets our young citizens know what
life is all about. Nothing is ever equal and no
infinite number of laws can change that fact
of life.
This promotes competition, and competi-
tion means people work harder to be number
one. It applies to all phases of life, whether it
be sports, business or anything else.
We can all be better people through com-
petition and it would be nice if there was a
way to assure unity of Allen for the future.
But since this probably won’t be, lets hope
With what appears to be rapid develop-
ment of west Allen just around the comer, a
question arises about how this growth will
affect the town.
Will it follow in the footsteps of its
neighbor to the south, or will Allen continue
to be a town united?
It almost goes without saying that west
Allen, almost totally undeveloped today,
will one day be full of homes and businesses,
just like other portions of the city which one
day will be known as “East Allen.”
It could come quicker than you think.

Worry is a common problem all people face. We don’t usually
want to worry, but it seems we just can’t keep from doing it. With
so many pressures put upon us by this world we live in, it’s hard not
to worry about whether everything will work out as we hope.
AT LEAST TWO major developers have
plans for projects which will bring new
business to the city along it’s major
thoroughfare, U.S. Highway 75, a road
which has a habit of dividing cities.
Plano is a prime example—just look at the
controversy which developed between east
and west Plano citizens over attendance
thoughts that enter your mind, unless, of course, you place them
there purposely. But you are responsible for what you do with those O
thoughts once they enter (James 1:13-15). So the next time you
begin to worry about something, do what Jesus recommended to
His disciples.
He said, “If you abide in My word, then . . . and you shall know
the truth, and the truth will make you free." The Scriptures reveal
the promises of God to free us from worry and to take us through
the most disastrous situations. As we believe God’s promises and
follow the counsel of His Word, our worry is overcome by His peace.
God wants us to be completely free from worry and anxiety. So O
the next time you are plagued with worry, get into God’s Word.
Release the problem and even its solution into His hands. Fill your
mind with all that God shows you in the Scriptures, and believe
what He says. He is willing and able to overcome your problem and
your worry. Live in His Peace.
