Daughter Follows
In Dad's Footsteps
"Like father like son" may also
apply to the daughter when it comes
to flying, according to Miss Joyoe
Gray, daughter of Mr and Mrs.
Jack Gray, 916 West Hickory.
Father Gray has been flying for
nearly nine years and on Thursday,
the first day that Joyce was eligible
for solo flying—her sixteenth birth-
day—she made her first solo flight.
Later that day, she and her father
flew to Fort Worth together for her
student certificate. C
Gray formerly served as a civilian
army instructor and taught liaison
glider pilots when they were sta-
tioned at North Texas and did pri-
mary flight instructing at Hicks
Field in Fort Worth He is now
owner and manager of the College
Airport here.
Two other children, Jack, Jr., 14.
and Jimmy, 13, are also strong de-
fenders of the air age and both are
logging up their time for the day
when they will be eligible for solo.
