My kitchen stays degrees cooler since I
started cooking electrically! The reasons:
the oven of an electric range is heavily
insulated to keep practically all heat imide
where it should be. In surface cooking,
the heat is in direct contact with the pan and
is transferred right to the food.
Summertime or any time, electric cooking's
wonderful. So economical, too! The oven
cooks with current off more than 1 the
time! Enjoy cool electric cooking.
See your dealer for a new electric range.

WASHINGTON UP—Secretary of
Defense Wilson Tuesday said
a new hign command headed by
an Air Force general is being
formed to direct the defense of
the United States against air as-
saults. It will ambrace Army and
Navy as well as Air Force units.
Wilson said “the Continental Air
afense Command” would come
into being about Sept. 1 and would
“formalize” older arrangements
among the services.
The secretary told a news con-
ference tne establishment of the
new command was required “to
take advantage of the new and
changing” picture in guided mis-
siles and supersonic aircraft.
> Gen. Benjamin W. Cridlaw, will
be chief of the new command
while retaining his command
the Air Forces’ Air Defense Com-
mand. His headquarters for both
commands will remain at. Ent
Air Force Base, Colorado Springs,
Colo.
Lt. Gen. John Lewis, now chief
of the Army’s antiaircraft com-
mand. which also has headquar-
ters at Colorado Sprinis, will be
- the senior Army member of the
new command. Wilson said the

He added that the command
would provide a single military I
agency to coordinate defense plans i
with the civil defense administra j
tion, state and local authorities and'
civilian agencies.
Wilson also said that the defense :
of the country against air assault)
was essentially an Air Force mat-
ter but that the aftermath of heavy
bombing would be a ground matter
and would naturally involve ar-
rangements by ground forces, state '
and local authorities to maintain j
law end order and to look after i
