REMEMBER?—These cool scenes might help you forget about the100-degree-plus
weather of the last several weeks. Many younger Justin residents won’t remember
the "big snow” scene, left, of Jan. 15, 1917. That’s the S. W. Barrett implement and
machinery company building on the corner (with the big sign on the front). If you
look closely at the left in the picture you can see a horse tied in front of the old Justin -
State Bank building. The children playing in the snow are unidentified. The pic-
ture at the right is a closeup of the same spot where the Barrett building was located,
on the northwest corner of the intersection of Justin’s Main Street and Farm High-
way 156. The picture of the Henderson Service Station and adjoining office was taken
by J. E. Bradley, following the sleet storm of Feb- 2, 1950.

in excess of $1,000, officials of
the department announced, follow-
ing a checkup of bills and other
expenses “outstanding.”
The funds wil be used to help
pay for the cost of constructing
the new fire hall.
Actually, the rodeo grossed
slightly over $2,000, and was label-
ed a “real success” by members
of the fire department.
Glen Henderson, fire chief, said
members of the department still
have quite a bit of work to finish
the inside of the structure. Septic
tanks were set into place recently
and the lines and connections
readied. -
The plumbing work remains to
be finished, but, at least, the new
fire engine and the firemen have
