FATAL HIGHWAY CRASH RIPS
COVNn’S TRAFFIC RECORD
The burning crash of three automobiles that took four lives
just north of Lewisville about one week ago sent Denton County’s
traffic record for September reeling downward, according to a
report from the Texas Highway Patrol.
In the corresponding period last year, Denton County had
recorded no deaths.
During the entire month local patrolmen investigated 28 ac-
cidents with 18 of them involving personal injury.
Capt. Jack Sutherland, Commanding Officer of the Fort Worth
District of the Texas Highway Patrol, said estimated damage in

Pioneer days in Green Valley
will come to life Saturday evening
when a group of Green Valley res-
idents get together to sing a
song about yesteryears in the com-
munity. -
"Old Green Valley,” a song writ-
ten by a former resident of the
community, Charles Mays, who
now lives in Fort Worth, will be
featured by a quartet made up of
Mrs. J. W. Farmer, Mrs. Clyde
Biggs, Joe. Morrow, and Paul
Blagg.
Many residents and former res-
idents of the community heard
this song for the first time when
the Green Valley reunion was held
early in September.
And they liked it so well that
many of the residents attending
the reunion will gather again Sat-
urday in the Green Valley school
house to hear the song again.
Settlement began in Green Val-
ley in about 1870 and continued
at a steady pace until the Texas
and Pacific railroad was complet-
ed in 1882, missing the community
by five miles to the east and giv-
ing birth to the town of Aubrey.
The community was originally
called Toll Town and was situat-
'd on Culp Creek at the stopping
point of two stage coach lines.
The town included a post Office

KERMIT, Tex. W—When a Wink-
