CrO JPriíes to Senators To Protest Pornography
St. Mary's Catholic Youth Or-
ganization has taken ataos in
support of proposed legislation
aimed at curbing pornographic
literature, President Tommy
Tindall disclosed today.
Letters written by 15 mem-
bers of the social committee
were placed in the mail this
jraak to each member of the
Senate committee on govern-
ment operations. The communi-
cations request immediate and
favorable action on Senate Bill
309. " ■
The bill is a proposal by Sen.
Karl E. Muntz to create a com-
mission on noxious and obscene
matter and material.
Local youths have been plan-
ning various other moves
. after en-
dorsing the recent atand taken
by the Diocesan' Council of
Catholic Youths in the Galves-
ton-Houston diocese.
A special program, "Poison-
Antidote," was presented re-
cently to 89 CYO members by
Ben Ramke and Everett Ker-
sey, cochairman of Orange Citi-
zens (or -Decent Literature and
Movies.
Ramke gave a revised sum-
mary of his recent 4-H Club
prize-winning talk on pornog-
raphy and obscene literature
which he cited as "a two bil-
lion dollar a year industry, a
kind of poison which produces a
moral illness and baa influence
on teen-agers."

Kersey explained that bis or, quiz,

These author! tlea are well

DEAR UNDECIDED: When la doubt, do nothing. You
don't seem able to get very "fired up" about much of any-
thing. Perhaps you don't have the capacity for it, but
marriage requires more enthusiasm than you display.
DEAR ABBY: I was dancing with my girl friend at a public
dance hall and, when we swung out, a man cut in and the next
thing I knew she was gone, and I was dancing with a man. I
finished the dance with him and he took me hack to my table
and thanked me. My. boy friend was furious! He said I had no
business dancing with a strange man just because he cut In
on me. Was I right in finishing the dance with the man or should
I have walked off the floor and left him standing there? He
was a perfect gentleman all the time we were dancing. My
boy friend doesn't dance fast numbers. That's why I was dancing
with my girl friend. " . ANGIE
DEAR ANGIE: When two women dance together at a
public dance hall, it Is an Implied invitation for a man
to cut in, so don't blame the man. To have walked off the
floor and left him standing there would have been rude.
And if your hoy friend didn't want you dancing with
strangers, be should have put his foot down when yon
wanted to dance with another girl publicly.

DEAR ABBY: I am nearinj? 60 and have an important
decision to make. My wife died four years ago and for the past
year I have be$n keeping steady company with a widow. Every-
one tells me I would be lucky to get this woman. When we
started "to get "serous," she said she wanted an "official"
engagement with a diamond ring. (She is 55 and has grand-
children.) ■
I asked her what kind of diamond she had in mind and she
asked me what I did with the ring thy first wife wore for years.
I told her 1 had given it to my married daughter, which I had.
Then she said she wouldn't accept anything smaller than two
carato, and it had to be perfect! Frankly, I hadn't planned on
buying her any kind of a diamond because she already has a
nice one from her first husband. She is good company and a
fine-looking woman and we enjoy each other's company. But
all this talk about diamonds has got me ready to back off. Wl t
do you think? CHANGE OF HEART
