Communicated,
Dear Echo:—I come as a rep
resenative of but not from the
Rock. Altho my abode is now
in your ity I have not grown so
• foreign to the Rock but. that I
can note with interest her at-
tractions as yet.’
Firstly, The Rock church has
purchased herself an organ and
ye scribe had the pleasurable
opportunity of participating in a
supper given Friday ’ evening
the 1st Inst, for the” purpose of
collecting money for the above
purchased. Owing to the ex-
citement of the “Bailey am-
— - Judge R. W.Simpson-author-
izadthe Echo to make his an-
nouncement this week as a candi-
date for re-election to the office
of Judge of this Judicial Dis-
• ‘ trict.
— Judge Simpson was elected to
this office to till out the unex-
pired term of Hon. J. G. Rus-
sell and was then elected for a full
term. No man has ever served
the people in any capacity as an
■ official who has given more gen
reral satisfaction’ than Judge
Simpson. Both as District At-
' torney and as’ District Judge
his services have been marked
with the highest degree of efli-
• ciency. There have been very
few reversals by the higher
courts of cases tried in his court.
Heis thoroughly familiar with
♦ every phase of the law and we
feel safe in saying he has no
superior as a District- Judge in
the State. In his conduct of’the
prominent Bailey men at Gran-
bury clipped the resolution from
the Record and handed it to a
leading negro here, requesting
• that he get the negroes together
and pass the.same kind of reso-
lutions. After discussing the
matter the negroes decided that
the Baileyites were trying to
lead them into a trap for selfish
purposes and refused to do as
requested. This matter came
to light here tonight in a joint
discussion between W. P. Lane
of Fort Worth and John J. Hiner
of Granbu ry. The__di slosu re
caused great criticism of the
Bailey managers.
