$700,000,000 in assets held here.
The $700,000,000 is in the form
of "bibeked". assets. Snyder reveal-
ed that citizens of the 16 Western
European countries also hold in
this country about $4,300,000,000 in
free, or non-bloeked, assets. But
he said for the most part these
ate known to the European govern-
ments.
Snyder made his statement in a
letter to Chairman Arthur H. Van-
denberg, of the Senate foreign re-
lations committee.
He said that after months of
konsideratlon this nation had de-

Venezuelan Revolt

CARACAS, ’ Venezuela, Feb. X
(U.P— president Romulo Betancourt
charged today that a movement
to overthrow the Venezuelan gov-
ernment and possibly bomb Cara-

bombers was taking form in Nica-

The charge was contained in a
telegram sent by Betancourt -to
President Gen. Anastasio Somoza
of Nicaragua at Managua.
Betancourt said his government
had obtained information that the
plot, headed by three former Vene-
zuelan airforce officers, was aim-
ed at prgventmg the Inauguration
of the new Venezuelan president-
elect, Romula Galegeis.
The plot is spearheaded by 27

In the tenth chapter of the book
of Acts we are introduced to a
man whose devotion to God would
put to shame any present day
church members. This man’s de-
votion moved him to love his
fellow men. Even though he was
a Gentile, he had a good report
among all the Jews. Yet even this
man did not censider his gifts
as a passport to heaven.
If you feel yourself a good mor-
al man think of this man for a
minute. In all Ahe good things he
had done, an angel of the Lord
directed him to send to Joppa for
Peter saying, "He will tell thee
what thou oughtest to do.” He was
a good man but‘not good enough
to be saved. When Peter came, he
preached the gospel to Cornelius,
which, according to Paul, is the
power of God unto salvation.
When Cornelius had believed the
gospel and heaven had demon-
strated that even a Gentile was
acceptable to Jehovah, Peter
said, "Can any forbid water that
these should not be baptized,
which have received the ■ Holy
Spirit as well as we?" And Cor-
nelius was baptised immediately.
Thus the superlatively good mAn
had to hear and belleveand obey
the gospel to be saved. (Adv.)
