ptobably is sold on the old home'
town stall after a duck hunting
trip to Scottsboro, Ala.
Wishing to do some nice Huiet
hunting aU by himself, Wagner
borrowed the game warden’s Joop
and drove several miles to what
he thought was an tuolated spot.
But no sooner had he stopped
from the vehicle, when hunters
began to swarm from the marsh-
es.In a few minutes, tour nim-
rods had appeared to show "the
warden" their hunting licenses
were all in ardor. ;
A TURN OF UNFORTUNATE-LUCK dumped Tom Adams, Hardin-
Simmons light-heavy, from the ranks of Chicago Golden Gloves last
night when he was forced to drop the duke in a fight be had
’ already won. A facial cut prompted the referee to stop his tight
with Earl Wenbourne, Sioux City, in the third round. Adams had
aU the best of the mill up to this time and would have advanced
into the semi-finals of the tournament Adams was the only Texan
remaining ih the tournament.

As champions sometimes
must, the Baylor Bears, 1948
Southwest Conference bas-
ketball titlists, bit the dust
last night.
Undefeated in ten previous con-
ference starts, Baylor took it on
the chin from Texas, dropping a
32-29 spine tingler at Austin. The
game had no beafing on Baylor's
conference championship, which
the Bears bagged last week when
Texas and Arkansas, knocked each
other out of the running.

DALLAS, .Texas, Feb 26. (U.F) —
The Townsend Plan may be re-
vealed in the next few days.
Sources at Southern Methodist
University, who prefer to remain
anonymous, say that “we should
know by Saturday," where. Byron
Townsend, the Odessa football
flash, plans to enroll in college.
Townsend, voted the state’s
best football’ player last fall by
the Texas Sportswriters associa-
tion, has been sought by just
about every college in the land,
Rumors have it that he may
go to SMU. Others say he plans
to enroll in Texas. Siin . ohers
explain that since his dad works
for an oil company, and Hous-
ton is an oil town, he would go
to Rice. Reports from north of
the Red River say Buckin’ Byron-
would sign up at Oklahoma.
And when he attended the Un-
iversity of Houston football ban-
quet a few weeks ago. he was
seen talking to Frank Leahy,
main speaker and football coach
at Notre Dame. Then Townsend
said he would like to play with’
a T-formation team. The fighting
