LIST OF ACQUISITIONS
Compiled by Charlsie E. Berly, Curator
The following items are indicative of our first step in the direction of
collecting and preserving significant materials which may serve to illuminate
and clarify the life record of the past in the Gulf coast region of Texas. Now
that one member of the Society has contributed to the archives, it is hoped
that many others will do likewise.
Letters, diaries, journals, official records, books, newspapers or news clip-
pings, pictures, etc., pertaining to the Gulf coast region and its people -
especially any dated before 1900 - are suitable materials to contribute and
would eventually constitute a mine for research. All acquisitions will become
the property of the Society and will be catalogued, handled in a systematic
way, and housed in a fire-proof building designated by the Society.
If some members do not wish to part with certain materials in their
possession but would give consent to responsible use of them in research or to
photostatic duplication, will these members kindly make this known and de-
scribe the materials?
The address of the Curator is 1697 Victoria, Beaumont, Texas, 77701.
Telephone: 832-0194.
