The play will be presented to the students of Travis, Taylor and
Graham Elementary on Thursday morning and to the Junior High
students on the same afternoon. On Friday morning, they play will be
presented to the high school students. An evening performance is
planned for Friday for the public at eight o’clock at the Mercedes
Junior High School Auditorium. Admission prices for the evening
performance will be one dollar for adults and 75 cents for students.
Tickets may be purchased at the door.

The Mercedes High School Senior Class of 1979 will present the
annual Senior Play beginning May 10, with the public evening
performance scheduled for Friday, May 11. The performance, “Spooks
Alive,” is a three-act mystery-farce by Le Roma Greth.
The plot revolves around a professor who is the head of a small
college history department and has decided to become an author. To
have the “proper atmosphere” in which to write his book, the professor
persuades his family to spend their summer vacation in the warden's
home of an abandoned prison. The house is described as “old, weird
and dusty,” and shortly after the family arrives, things begin

WINS FISHING CONTEST - Ruben Hinojosa, Jr., at left,
was awarded a $50 gift certificate from Borderland
Hardware when he was declared the winner of an April
fishing contest sponsored by the store. This 30-inch fish was
the largest trout brought into the store during the month.
Making the presentation is Kenneth Eilers of Borderland.
Another contest is underway this month in the redfish
category. All participants must register each month. Fish
must be caught on rod and reel and brought to Borderland

Magic Wand” at the Monday,
May 7 meeting of Beta Sigma
Phi Sorority. Mrs. Wally
Bunton was hostess for the
meeting.
Suzette had jars of
water filled with the three
primary colors - red, yellow
and blue. She showed
variations of colors by mixing
two colors together. She also
showed how some colors were
‘warm’ and others ‘cool,’ and
how they could be used in
decorating the home.
Letty Mata, a junior in
Mercedes High School, is
being sent to Girls’ State at
Seguin in June by the
sorority.
