Spirit Of Holy Week Rests
Upon El Paso's Social Calendar
THE spirit of Holy week is more in evidence today than any time dur-
ing tbe finale of the penitential season the social calendar is abso-
lutely a void other than helping lift the load from the shoulders of
Uncle Sam.
With religious devotion centering its solemnity on Good Friday there
will be still less to chronicle on the morrow.
Friday is Hot Cross ban day even Hoover cannot stop this old custom
that has prevailed longer than history can trace-
As the Eastertide eomes hourly nearer the tulips and iris are bursting
into bloom in El Paso's public parks and plazas- Femininity too is thinking
of future plans that will bring more gayety.
Also are we becoming mightily concerned over that daylight saving
proposition for "It's nice to get up in tbe morn in" BUT it's nice to lie
in bed." In conformity with tbe plan all clocks and watches are to be moved
forward an honr Easter Sunday. Tbe local ministers and churchmen are
worried over a possible "casus beHi" and their timepieces will remain un-
changed until after the Easter morning service.
