Waco Texas April 15. A genera!

was to hare occurred at nUdnigbt last
night waa postponed pending further
negotiations it was announced today
It was to have been a general strike
of organized labor unions affiliated
with the central labor council.
The general strike was ordered
? f ter efforts on the part of a citizens
committee to reconcile the differences
between the Texas Electric railway
and motormen and conductors in the
employ of that company had failed.
The strike of the street car trainmen

in which principles rather than per
sons will count.
They also concede that the candi-
date tor consress who stands for
principles conceded to be right will
get not only the votes Of the women
bat of all men who desire that Brew-
ster county be lined up as it ehonld
be 'on the Question which the right
thinking men and women of the
country believe should reveal.
Amerfeanlam Prevails.
"I have talked with many of the
influential meg or Alpine during the
few hours I have been In the city"
said Mr. Cobb "and I have been great-
lv encouraged to believe that Brew
ster county will give me a good ma-
jority at the primary election. I have
made It slain to ever man with
whom I have talked that I stand
squarely upon my announced platform
of Ito percent Amerlchhtsm stand by
the president and help whip the
kaiser and I have nmde ft equally
plain that I am in favor of the sup-
pression of the Honor traffic and the
extension et the right to vote to
women not only at the primaries but
at all elections.
"I find that men and women not
nnly of Brewster eounty but of every
other county In which I have been
since I entered this race are almost
a unit In endorsing the stand I have
taken that the fight should be upon
the principles for which I stand
rather than upon the personalities of
the candidates and this also en-
courages me to believe I win win."

County Agent Harwell Ar-
ranges Conferences at
Lower Valley Towns.
El Paso county's new farm agent
Roland Harwell held his first meet
ing with the county commissioners
Monday morning and plans were
made for the organization of farmers
throughout the county this week. A
schedule of meetings to be attended
by the county commissioners and Mr.
Harwell was arranged as follows:
Tuesday evening: Tsleta. 7:S0
oclock; Socorro 8:30.
Thursday evening": Clint. ":30; San
Sliaario. S:30.
Friday evening: Fabens. 7:S0.
Saturday evening: Canutillo. 7:30:
Anthony. 9.
It was decided that the organiza-
tions should be perfected at once be-
cause the planting season is drawing
to a close and the commissioners de-
sired the cooperation of farmers" or-
ganizations in making lons for seed
and feed under the new state law
the plan of which was adopted by the
county commissioners.
Asks Higher Prices Here.
Farming In general was discussed
and commissioner Oeorge Pendell
spoke at length on marketing ex-
pressing the opmlon that something
should be done to secure higher
prices tt El Paso City for produce
brought In from the valley. Mr. Pen-
dell thought the price charged at re-
tail was entirely disproportionate
with the price paid the growers.
He also expressed the opinion that
farmers should be encourage to plant
only staple crops as melons and sim-
ilar produce often perish and glut
the market causing low prices. He
believed the landowners should con-
centrate on forage crops beans corn
wheat and the like. It was the opin-
ion of all present that the commis-
sioners would make no loans unless
they were sure the crops to be plant-
ed were adapted to this section.
Mr Harwell the new farm agent
asked for thorough cooperation of tie
commissioners and said It was his In-
tention to make good from a business
standpoint and he wanted his term of
office to end at any time he is not
accompjisning tnis end.

day and said the acreage In that sec-
tion is about SoOO this year against
