I have lived, as a salesman, in many places in this
old world, but there is no place where the atmo-
sphere, way of life, and conditions are more condu-
cive to instilling in one broadmindedness and toler-
ance than at old Harvard. That's the life-long im-
pression a brief stay in Cambridge made on a worldly
salesman.
Debt of Gratitude
I wish it could have been much more! How can
anybody repay such a debt of gratitude?
To Repay Harvard
I hope to write several checks this year to begin
to repay Harvard for the most helpful scholarship
I received as an undergraduate.
To Be Part of the Effort
It is an honor to be part of the effort. I hope to
be able to give time as well as money in the not too
distant future.
My First Debt
Since I am now earning a very small amount over
and above school and living expenses, my first debt
to pay, if only in a token manner, is to the College
which has given me so much.
Grateful Awareness
Since a Harvard fellowship is my primary source
of support, this token contribution is in the nature
of a shift in the University's pockets. But it is inTHEY GIVE
grateful awareness of the many opportunities Har-
vard has given me.
Island of Liberty
My reason for giving is only in small part the sen-
timental affection I feel for Harvard; mostly, I am
concerned that our islands of intellectual liberty be
sustained.
Pensioner's Verse
I'm sorry I'm retired,
With pension very small.
But I'd rather send this pittance
From job I've just had quittance
Than not to give at all.
Parents' Double
With two sons in Harvard (thus doubling our es-
teem and admiration), we feel that doubling our for-
mer contribution is the least we can do, albeit our
best.
Harvest from Hawaii
Hopefully I have set aside the enclosed for Har-
vard from my first harvest's gross. Meanwhile I
enjoy my diet of nuts, fruits, rice, and fish with sea-
sonal variety-at times a bit long between seasons.
Arsenal of Strength
April 19! What a splendid date to send a check
to Harvard! An insignificant sum, but with like
amounts from many, many other patriots, it will help
to keep Harvard an enviable U. S. arsenal of strength
and vision.Enow"
