ning of the season many aggrega-
tions were ballyhooed to go far in
the torrid chase that was to fol-

very far we find that many of the
elevens which seemed headed for
national recognition had been
bumped off, often by obscure teams
that many,football fans had never
heard of. Then as the season ap-
proached Thanksgiving the alumni
of the downtrodden elevens initi-

in no uncertain terms that a
