to manhood and_womanhood.
To sum up the cardinal traits
of his character from childhood
to old ago. He was a faithfuily
obedient child to parental in-
struction and authority. He
was an af • onate brother, an
honest pla uate. He loved the
birdsand djvers. There was
not a speck of cruelty in. his
spiritual nature. He was brave,
h.nest and truihfnl. As a
young man he was noble, gener-
ous, cheerfnl and loyal to all the
obligations oi ; well regulated,
refined social tircle.: As a set-
tled man of affairs, he wits a
scrupulously law abiding citi-
zen,a helpful, self-denying
neighbor, a dutiful;-affectionate
parent, a devoted faithful hus-
band. He walked before men'
worthily of himself and respect-
fully to them. In religion, he- -t
w:s sincere and. practic. He
walked humbly and devoutly
toward God.
His sickness was very pro
tracted. For weeks he could
not speak or even whisper. He
bore his affliction with extreme
patience, until at last the invisi- ■
ble messenger called him to a
more peaceful; restful state of •
existence in the realm of . a
blessed immortality. He is sur-
vived by his dutiful wife, seven
children and several grand chil-

youngest of whom is nearing
sixty-one years of age. he re-
cel .d every attention that med-
