For a while both were silent.
Peter was wondering who May
Fisher could be—where she could "
be. May Fisher, alias May Smith,
was sitting near home wondering
what would happen next. She felt
numb.
That day Peter wired to Kingsley
that he relinqyished his rights to
Howard Crane's fortune and in-
atructed the attorney to find May

item be inserted In all leading news-
papers:

with John Kingsley she win learn
something greatly to hrer interest."

to the fortune left by his uncie,
Peter thought it only fair to tell
his flancee, Marlon, of what he had
done. She was furious.

said simply when she became
angry, "but it seems to me there
are other things a wife should share ■
with her husband outside of money

ideals." ’

Marion stormed.

uncle had bequeathed it to him.
He opened a letter which his
uncle had written to him shortly be-
fore his death and read it. Then
he rushed to fnd May—turning, as
always, to her for advice.
May was quivering with excite-
ment. "Read it," she requested—
and Peter did so. -
“I have always disapproved of the
way you spent the money left to
you by your father, but my disap-
proval has met with no change in
your plans," his deceased uncle had
written. "I don’t propose to have—
you squander my money in the
