^ALLWE GO TO COLLEGE
In thousands of homes, young
people have been trying to de-
cide whether or not to attend
some college. Some who have
partly completed such a course
have been considering whether
or not to .drop out. It is ex-
pensive business to take a full

heroic action, la given in cases of
resuscitation from electrical shock,
gas aaphxxlatton, drowuiug or
other aceidental causes of suspend:
ed respiration. The National
Safety Council determined upon
this method of recognition in May.
1928, and the first awards were
made in September. To date there
have been is5 medals awarded. A
cerudicate of award is given to
those who assist in life saving
through resuscitation.
Many famine groan --under
these costs. They should not
attempt this burden unless
they see tangible gains to re-
sult.

authorities, too many young
people are taking these couraes
Many families are making such
sacrifice? in behalf of children
who do not appreciate them.
Many students come because
they desire the aathletic or so-
cial life. Many come because
they think they can earn more
money with these courses. The
desire to earn more mony is leg
itimate, but not much is gained
otward that end if a student
has do aptitude for literary
study.
Many thousands of students
enjoy college as a perfect peri-
od of loafing- All the gaiety
and jollity of American life is
opened up for their pleasure.
They slip through their studies
easily. Some -of then, manage
to pass examinations without
any real comprehension of the
subjects.
They have acquired loafing
habits, they do not like to take
off their coats and soil their
cuffs, they expect things to be
handed them on a gold plate,
they often acquire a contempt
for ordinary pople that is a han
dicap to their success.
If a young person here in Ty-
ler is naturally a reader, if he
takes easily to book learning, if
scientific work appeals to him,
college will probably do such
a one good. If he does not like
his books, and shows little sign
of scientific gifts, better let
him go to work if he can find
a job. The person who wants
