Thursday night, April 16,
was a big night for the scouts
of Gilmer, as almost two-thirds
of the enrolled boys pushed
forward to a higher rank.
The Gilmer- school band
furnished music\for the even-
ing under the direction of their*
leader Warren '.Whittlesey.
After a prayer by Malcolm
Smith, the scouts sang "Ameri-
district met with the local
barbers Thursday night. Mr.
Childress stated in his talk that
the slogan of the State Bdard
for this year, is for barber
shops to “Clean up or shut up.”
. Mr. Childress stated that all
shops could be cleaned up and
put in a good sanitary condi-
tion if the barbers would co-
‘ operate and the general pub-
lic would help by not allowing
the barbers to use anything
but clean towels and sterlized
instruments on them. He also
asked the co-operation of the
press in notifying the general
public of the situation.
