to meet at the Court room of- -
the Upshur County Court
House Tuesday night to organ-
ize a "Woman’s Sterling for
Governor" club.
Upshur county is the only
county in this district that is
without such an organization,
and by banding together they
should be able to accomplish
much good for their candidate.

land left for College Station to
attend a football coaching
school to be conducted by Coach
Ben Copass, has recently re-
turned from a coaching school
in West Texas where he sat at
the feet of many famed foot-
ball mentors.
Gilmer lost a number of val-
uable players by graduation
but there is plenty of new and
old material on which to build
a championship team again

just a matter of days now un-
til the boys start warming up
on McClelland Field, starting
the long grind that they hope
will end with championship
laurels again this year.

Longwew, Aug. 21—While
officers searched for vandals
who Saturday night dynamited
the Humble Qil,and Refining
Company’s No.3 Killingsworth
test in the southeast corner of
the. David Ferguson survey, 8
miles northwest of here, a rew
led by W. C. Showalter late
Sunday night was successful in’
its efforts to kill the flow.

bombing in the Longview area
since July 22.
When the superintendent of
the lease sighted the fire at
the well from his office window

the group of fire fighters ap-
proached the derrick, the
ground was rocked by a ter-
rific explosion. It is believed

Del Torres survey, four miles
southeast of Gilmer, was drill-
ing Monday noon at 2,685 feet
in the Pecan Gap Chalk. -
They had entered that forma-.
tion at 2,582 feet. Elevation is
given as 312 feet.-
This marker compares favor-
ably with the logs of wells in
the producing area. At the
rate of progress being made,
th.s test should reach an inter-
eating depth soon.
