{x>ca! union. Y. P. 8. C. E.. will hold
a trand rally Monday night at the
Tabernacle, corner of Fifth and Throck-
morton streets.
This will be the last meeting of the
union before the holding of the state
convention at Houston, June 3, 4 and 7.
The meeting will be for the purpose of
arousing interest in the Houston con-
vention and as many as possible will
be urged to attend. It is particularly
desired that a large number of Fort
Worth delegates attend the convention
at Houston, as a strong effort will be
made to secure the next convention for
Fort Worth, and the stronger the Fort
Worth delegation the more likelihood of
the success of the Panther city.
All members and friends of the un-
ion are invited to be present at the
meeting Monday night. K An extensive
programme has been pf epared for the
occasion.

seseor of the pestiferous canine that on

lawfully and forcibly seise every canihe
quadruped ahat roams the streets uni
lena pon the'noth'of that quadruped
appears the saving dog tag, which will
be to that quadruped what the sheeps
bl od ao:ikled‛upon, the doorposts of
the houses of Israel was to those with-
in the cates."
The dog tags arrived yesterday and
the sale or rather the wholesale has
begun. All day yesterday the office of
City Tax Collector Gilvin was besieged
by those who had learned that the sav-
ing tags had arrived.
I want a tag for my poodle.” "Give
me a tag for a fice." "Do puppies need
to be tagged?” "Are the same kind of
tags used for water spaniels and bull-
dogs" "I think the dog catcher is a
horrid man, don't you?” All these and
other queries and remarks might have
been overheard yesterday at the office
of the dog tag dispenser. The tags
cost 81 and each one represents the life
of a purp.
Colonel Moss will not enter private
grounds in his search for taglesn dogs,
but it perchance his eagle eye ferrets
out one of the unchosen standing in-
side a yard he may possibly dally a
while and endeavor to coax Mr. DogKie
outside. He may even go so far as to
use a piece of singed raw meat as a
coaxer, for there is no trick known to
the dot catcher's art with which Colo-
nel Moss is not familiar. He knows
the game as a gambler knows his
pack and he is trained, above every-
thing else, to catch dogs. ---
After the unfortunates are taken into
custody they will for forty-eight
short hours tarry on this mundane
sphere and If no claim is filed and if
the costs of the arrest are not forth-
doming, the captured ones will be
killed.
There are only two ways to protect
dogs from the wrath of Colonel Jim
Moss. They must be tagged- or they ,
must be tied up inside the yard where
the colonel cannot get his apparatus on
them. Sixty-four tags were sold yes-
terday.
A gentleman came into the city hall
yesterday with a copy of Senator Vest's
famous eulogy on the faithful dog
pasted on cardboard and stated that he
desired to hang it In the office of
Colonel Jim Moss, th* official dog
catcher, in order that the gentleman'*
heart might be somewhat softened
when debating ways and means of
thinning out the canine population.
Chief Maddox remarked dryly that if
the donor had to answer about twenty
phone calls each day requesting relief
from vicious brutes all over the city
he might be convinced of the necessity
of dealing harshly with them.
