she waa sad. “He called this the
Valley of Eden,” she said, “and
he really meant it—it waa his

“When he came here in 1947
and we were married, he said that
thia was the place where he want-
ed to spend the rest of his life.
And he told me he wanted to die
here,” she said.
In those seven years, Franklin
made many friends around Ar-
gyle, his home, aad Denton Coun-
ty
The storm that killed Franklin
damaged paint on the drive-in’s
screen. Some ’ Denton painters
heard about it and went out to the
Colonial to re-paint it — not be-
cause they were called, but be-
cause they were friends.
